Senior citizens have a special place here at the Veterinary Care of Cuba. Our staff fully commits to the old adage, “age is not a disease” and want our older patients to be as happy and healthy as possible throughout their senior years. We believe the best way to keep your aging dog or cat healthy is through proactive wellness care throughout their lifetime and a senior wellness program.
Unfortunately, our pets age much faster than we do. Most pets reach the “golden” years at the age of 7 and with aging, its health care needs change. In many conditions, the ability to diagnose and treat age-related health issues early can ultimately determine how successful treatment can be. We recommend bi-annual physical exams, and bloodwork to evaluate organ function, thyroid output and the health of the white and red blood cells, Lyme testing and additional testing as needed such as chest x-rays, blood pressure monitoring and eye pressure checks.
