James Kernahan - Veterinarian
Dr. Jim Kernahan is a 1974 graduate from Cornell University making him the senior partner at Veterinary Care. He spent 34 years of his career caring for both large and small animals. He put away the barn boots and overalls in 2009 in order to focus on his small animal patients only. Dr. Kernahan’s years of experience coupled with his unending dedication to his patients and owners make him a client favorite. Dr. Jim enjoys golfing, gardening, boating, fishing and walking in the woods. He especially enjoys spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Amy Long-Mount – Veterinarian
Dr. Amy earned her D.VM. degree from Purdue University in Indiana in 2005. She uses complimentary and traditional therapies including acupuncture and herbal treatments. Dr. Amy brings a calmness into her examination room. She is never too busy to answer questions or to help alleviate concerns. Our clients love her because of the thoughtfulness and attention to detail she brings to each patient and owner. Dr. Amy, her husband, and 2 adorable children live on their family farm with horses, cows, dog, cats and a pony. Dr. Amy loves veterinary medicine but she also has an affinity for horses and dressage (horseback riding).
Amy Kenyon – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Amy attained an AAS degree in Human Services at SUNY Alfred in 2000 and then returned to SUNY at Alfred and earned her AAS degree and license in Veterinary Technology in 2002. Amy is our senior technician. She is adamant about patient comfort for our hospitalized animals and seeks to ensure Hilton-like accommodations during their stay with us. Amy is a true animal lover with 4 cats and 1 dog at home. She enjoys family time and outdoor activities. Amy loves to spend the warm days of summer near her Koi pond reading.
Andrea Vanik – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Andrea graduated Phi Bheta Kappa from SUNY Alfred in 2006 with a degree and license in Veterinary Technology. She comes to Veterinary Care with experience from working at veterinary practices in New York, North Carolina, and Virginia. Andrea brings a calmness to the chaos of a busy hospital. She can multi-task with ease and correctness and can anticipate the doctors’ needs. Andrea is a bass player and loves rock music. She also enjoys bowling, softball and soccer along with being a Buffalo Sabres fan. Andrea has 3 cats at home.
Heather Rosenberger – Licensed Veterinary Technician
Heather is a 2009 graduate of SUNY Alfred with a degree and license in Veterinary Technology. She and her husband have two darling children. We rely on Heather to keep our Facebook pages current and fill you in on important and fun daily activities at VCC. Her calm demeanor and attention to detail are a valued asset. She has 2 cats and 1 dog at home. Heather loves quilting, scrapbooking, camping and reading in her free time.
Melissa Tuttle – Receptionist
Melissa has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She decided to put away the chalk and crayons and become part of our team. Melissa is our hospital ambassador and seems to always be in tune with the pulse of our hospital and needs of our clients. She strives daily to meet the desires and demands of all our clients whether by telephone or in our waiting room. Melissa is also famous for having a special treat in her pocket for our four-legged guests. She could be classified as our social director since she always remembers staff birthdays and important events with her special touch. Melissa and her husband have 2 boys, 1 dog and 1 cat. She enjoys photography, crafts, and kayaking.
Stephanie Speaker – Receptionist
Stephanie is a 2007 graduate of Great Lakes Institute of Technology with a degree in Veterinary Assisting. She and her husband have a son and 2 mixed breed dogs. In her free time she enjoys going to the lake and spending time on their boat. She also enjoys kayaking. Spending time with her family is her favorite pastime.
Tracy Kasper - Licensed Veterinarian Technician
Tracy graduated with a license in Veterinary Technology from Medaille in 1992. If you do the math, it is easy to see that Tracy has years of experience in the veterinary field. She and her husband live in Olean. They have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, and flower gardening.
